Create a visually engaging image with a gradient background transitioning from light grey to soft blue. Towards the left side, place the logo of an imaginary database represented by a blue elephant, thus highlighting the technology theme. Near the center of the image, incorporate a subtle motif representing a SQL database, like a simplified cylinder, and blend it slightly into the background to provide depth without overpowering the viewer. Towards the bottom right of the image, include a minimalist chart or graph icon to symbolism data analysis. The overall arrangement of elements should be balanced with a minimalist aesthetic, emphasizing a professional and technical, yet engaging tone. This image is intended for a presentation topic centered on effective database usage and data analysis.

Making Effective Use of Select in Postgress...a SQL Rant

Presented By: Steven Lembark

Face it: Most of what we all write for queries isn't poetry, let alone True Art. All too often we hack a 'select * from foobar' and figure that 'the code can handle it' or some such.

Blech.

This month let's look at how to use simple data structures and SQL to generate straightforward tables for time-based analysis with SQL -- nary a loop or block required!

This talk uses and shows how to create the basis of a complete data analysis framework using SQL, sequences, and range data types. It's efficient in time and space, flexible for handling calendar and fiscal periods, and it'll impress your friends in bar bets.

Or, to say it in poetry:

Doff thy for loops and

take joy in select!

Thus is the way we

shall make use of SQL*:

generate what is

needed with nary

a loop!

KISS what is

real, and so make it

your own! Sets are your

friends, no loops needed!

With Apologies

to The Bard (of course).

* 'squeal', as in the noise of a pig.

Flipper Zero - A Swiss Army Knife?

Presented By: Rob Dodson

Flipper Zero has garnered a great deal of attention as an ultimate Hacking Tool. The first shipment to the US was held up by customs so the government could determine what threat it posed to information technology and related services. Amazon removed it from their site stating it could be used as a card skimmer. The big question, is it?

Learn the pros and cons of the tool, what it is good for and how it works. Is it a toy, as most people think or does it have a role in security? What can you do to expand its capabilities, and does this make it more dangerous? ...

At 6:30p.m. Central Time we begin with our BASE presentation. The BASE presentation is intended to be an introductory level session ( often focused on personal computing ); which may include either amazing graphical packages, blinking lights, command line wonders, demonstrations of useful applications, displays of newly discovered web sites, major resolution of long standing anomalies, quantum discoveries, smoke and mirrors, superb tutorials, or shifts in both time and space.

At 7:00p.m. Central Time we attempt a quick welcome, introductions, announcements, current events of interest, and a general CALL FOR HELP (Questions and Answers) segment.

At 7:15p.m. Central Time the MAIN presentation begins. The MAIN presentation is intended to be something more advanced, detailed, important, new, profound, significant, timely or useful and is often focused on enterprise computing.
