St. Louis Unix Users Group

Design an image for a blog header. The backdrop depicts a sleek, dark, futuristic cityscape with subtle neon highlights, and the addition of holographic elements or digital lines for a state-of-the-art appeal. In the foreground, find visual representations of web security technologies including SSL/TLS padlocks, OWASP, and Let's Encrypt, as well as icons for popular theme frameworks and CMS platforms such as WordPress, Joomla, and Wix. A stylized globe or planet, with various color-glowing interconnected nodes representing global web hosting, forms the main focus. A central shield symbol draws attention, signifying safety, with theme icons either orbiting or 'plugged in' to it to suggest ease of theme integration. Light trails or circuits link the different themes and security icons to the central shield, while a subtle binary code or matrix-style effect in the background enhances the tech aspect. The color scheme is dominated by hues of blue, green, and violet for a futuristic feel, contrasted with neon highlights in colors like orange and yellow.

GitHub Overview - Hints & Features

Presented By: Robert Citek

Not all of GitHub, of course, as that would take several days without sleep or bathroom breaks. But rather, a few walk-throughs of use cases with hints, pointers, and teasers of other features. The purpose is to entice listeners to use GitHub and be comfortable doing so.

You don't have to be a software developer to use GitHub. For example, here's someone who is using it to share recipes: https://github.com/LarryMad/recipes

If someone can use GitHub to share recipes on-line with the world, what is GitHub?

Some ancillary items included with the talk will be Chromebooks, VSCode, Jupyter notebooks, Markdown, Docker, and the FizzBuzz challenge. Oh, and the public library.

BUT, what if you COULD build a SECURE website, choosing from hundreds of themes, in under 10 minutes? Hosting on ANY server you wish?

Be sure to stop by Wednesday and find out how!
